Hit or Miss Fishing
It’s been a hit or miss week for us here at Fineline Fishing Charters. Heavy winds and some rain have really kept us on our toes on the days we’ve been on the water which have been few and far between due to cancellations.
Weeds Pushing in With Rough Surf
The time we have been hoping wouldn't happen here in the area has started. The weeds are starting to push in with the rough surf...
Stick Marsh/Headwaters
The artificial bite is excellent for me right now. Jackhammers are definitely the bait of choice. If you have one bait to choose from this would be it. The half ounce golden shiner with a Hogfarmer Spunk Shad in TN Magic is the DEAL!
Wind Still Making Fishing Tough
Winds were on fire most of last week making the fishing tough. Had to fish protected shorelines and pick away at a bunch of trout, jacks, ladyfsh and bluefish with some snook and redfish mixed in.
Good Fishing Inshore and Off
Fishing for redfish, trout and snook using topwater has been very good this past week. The MirrOlure Top Pup and She Dog plugs have been the best baits. Offshore, bottom fishing continues to be very good now that the seas have settled down a little bit with mangrove snapper and Lane snapper still being caught in good numbers, as well as a few vermilion snapper.
30 Knot Winds
As you all may already know, We had 30 plus knots of wind for the last week. This report will not be helpful but truthful. We fished offshore one day. After a week of blow, you can only assume that the fishing was not all that great. Small stringers of fish and that was all. The ocean is still pretty angry and dirty. Give it a few days and we will be right back at it.
Kayak Fishing Report: St. John’s River & Lake Poinsett
So this past weekend I did some Bass fishing on the olde Rio San Juan, and the northern part of “Lake” Poinsett. I put the word lake in air quotes because it is not an actual lake in so much as it is a wide section of the St. John’s River.
Tampa Offshore
Big red grouper have been biting well for us offshore. We’re fishing closer to 140 foot of water or more right now and generally doing really well on some big fat red grouper. We’re also finding some decent scamp grouper in this depth range too.
Spring Sea Trout
Spring is arriving and so are the sea trout! Spring is notorious for big sea trout and snook, on these large moons you’ll find most of your bigger or gator trout as some would call it spawning along shorelines across the entire east coast.
Bite Continues in Tough Conditions
A late season cold front has brought in some much needed rain but also a lot of wind this past week. Wind gust of 20 mph has not made for some fun conditions on the water.
Challenges Ahead in the Surf
Surf fishing the Space Coast will bring its share of challenges this month. Traditionally this time of year brings good fortune as a transitional month. Surf fishing anglers would expect to catch pompano, whiting, snook and flounder. But needless to say this year will be all but pleasant.
Port Canaveral April Forecast
We have finally made it! Glorious April! Calm seas will come our way and the fishing is about to get stellar.
