Capt Mike Mann has been fishing his whole life from Bass to Tarpon to Bones I love it all but chasing down Fat Red fish tailing in skinny water is my passion. Summer Tarpon off the beach or in the back country rock, so come get your fish on!

We’ve got some of the best fishing I’ve seen in years. In the Mosquito Lagoon we’ve got crystal clear water with schools of redfish and black drum on the flats and trout along the deep drop offs.
This cold weather has really jump started fishing in the Mosquito Lagoon. We’re seeing large schools of redfish and black drum as well as groups of snook around shallow docks. For the redfish and black drum, a small shrimp or crab fly works really well.
Tailing redfish has been the story of the past few days with low clean water and lots of big redfish tailing in the grass flats.
The redfish have really turned on, and the water has cleaned up dramatically and should continue to get cleaner over the next few days with the cooler temperatures. Look for redfish tailing in grass flats with depths of a foot or lower.
With the cooler water temperatures were starting to see some schooling of redfish. The black drum and trout bite has gotten much better over the last week or two as well.
Fishing this past week has been on fire post cold front with much cleaner water and really hungry redfish as well as trout.
This week post full moon was a little challenging, but we found fish that would readily eat using live shrimp, live finger mullet, as well as chunk mullet. With the major cold front coming through this week, the black drum and redfish should start schooling up and we should be getting the clearest water of the year.
With the cooler weather, the schools of redfish and black drum should be moving onto the flats. A great approach is a jig head with shrimp for the black drum and redfish.
It’s that time of year, the first major cold front is coming this week which will set off the cleaning of the algae bloom in the lagoon.
