black drum

A late season cold front has brought in some much needed rain but also a lot of wind this past week. Wind gust of 20 mph has not made for some fun conditions on the water. It looks as though things will be calming down and getting back to normal by the end of the week. Even with the unwanted conditions the bite continues to stay strong throughout the New Smyrna Beach and Mosquito Lagoon waters. The bait has been plentiful on the flats and the game fish have been taking full advantage of that. We also had a nice run of shrimp this past week giving these fish another food source to gorge themselves on. The redfish and trout have been hanging in and around the schools of bait and the snook and black drum holding in the deeper water. Live bait and artificials have both been working well to get the bites. Look for this bite to only get better as this weather continues to move past our state.
