Best Inshore Pompano Bite in Years
Great week of inshore and nearshore fishing. Pompano were on fire inshore right after the last cold front with one of the best bites I’ve seen in several years.

I’m Capt. Glyn Austin, the owner and operator of Going Coastal Fishing Charters. I’m a central Florida native who was born and raised in the Melbourne and Palm Bay area. It’s here where my love for fishing was nurtured. Now, that passion is now my full time job.

A decent week of fishing inshore and nearshore off the beaches. Plenty of action inshore from trout, pompano, bluefish mackerel and jacks with a few small gag grouper in the mix when using live baits.
Water temps are getting back to normal but theres still very little bait in most areas of the lagoon south down by Sebastian. The ocean temp is a little colder than normal in the mid to low 60s which has been keeping the lagoon south by the inlet a little cooler as well.
Fishing has been decent despite the coldest weather we had in 15 plus years. Still some pompano around as well as some trout, bluefish and ladyfish.
Full week of wind but the fishing was very good despite the cold front early in the week with 57-degree water temps in the lagoon and 15-25 mph winds most of the week.
Inshore fishing slowed a bit this week as we had a very cold beginning of the week which dropped lagoon temps more than 10 degrees. While the air temps warmed up later in the week, the water temps stayed chilly.
Great week of warmer weather, calm river and ocean brought a great week of fishing inshore and nearshore. We’ve been getting a lot of good trout on the flats and around the deeper mangrove shorelines and plenty of pompano, jacks, bluefish and ladyfish on the flats and shorelines as well.
It was a good week fishing inshore and nearshore. We are still on a good trout bite inshore on artificial and, the pompano bite got better after this last cold front last week.
We experienced another excellent winter week with calm winds, smooth seas, and temperatures holding around the 80s. Inshore fishing has been productive, with snook, trout, and pompano responding well to both live bait and artificial lures, while redfish action has been more inconsistent.
