We’re in April folks, but for the past week or so you wouldn’t know it if you get up out of the house before 7 am - it’s been in the 50’s the past 5 mornings in Melbourne at day break, but since the rain we got on Thursday we’ve had 3 straight days of bluebird skies and the barometric pressure has been way up.
Fight Through the Weather
How's everyone doing? I hope you've managed to catch some fish despite the challenging conditions caused by the southeast winds, which have brought in dirty water along with crabs and catfish.
Decent Fishing Despite Wind
Another week of wind but still had some decent fishing. Inshore fishing is a bit better as tempos warm up and more bait is showing up.
Surf Report
For this week the surf has been up and down with the water conditions after the rain storm and small front that moved through.
No Shiners Needed @ Headwaters
Only one day at Headwaters this week. We fished a newer area than the last couple of weeks prior but the water had the same structure, submerged hydrilla with open holes surrounding the matted out areas.
Black Drum Bite Still Good
The black drum bite has continued to be very good. Tarpon are starting to show up in the inlet and the big news of the day is cobia along the beach.
Tuna Time with Sea Leveler
First tuna trip of the year is in the books for Captain Joey fishing aboard the Sea Trident with Sea Leveler Charters out of Sunrise Marina at Port Canaveral.

April hasn't disappointed for surf fishing enthusiasts along the Space Coast! Due in part to the much awaited spring pompano run that hit our coasts with a sonic boom of a bang. Large pompano ranging from 3-4 pounds were consistently landed on local area beaches.
