Hole in the Wall Island
I launched from the 69th Street Kayak Launch in Vero Beach, this spot is located just south of the Wabasso Causeway. Even though it is a little bit of a drive south from where I live in Melbourne, I have enjoyed great fishing success in the areas between Sebastian and Vero, the borderlands between the Space & Treasure Coasts have really clean water, a healthy and thriving population of Snook, and more Seagrass and Oyster beds than you will encounter fishing between Titusville, and Palm Bay.
Read the Beaches
July 4th week was filled with packed beaches, and the fish were skittish but still biting. Moving tides were essential when targeting fish other than sharks and catfish.
Whiting & Croakers in the Surf
This week we have been dealing with the summer time pattern and the off colored water. The bite has been good early and late evening thru the night after the afternoon showers.
Get on the Lake Early
It’s been a few weeks since my last report. I wanted to get back on the water after the shutdown to ensure I report accurate information so you can go out and catch ‘em.
Beating the Heat
I fished only once last week and it was at Headwaters. Water temperature was 88 and the air was hotter. We managed 10 bass all in the first hour on topwater lures.
Decent Fishing on the Beach
A decent week of fishing the beach for Tarpon, jacks and sharks. The tarpon action was a bit slow but the big jacks were pretty active.
Summertime…and the Snookin’s Easy
It’s summertime and you know what that means for us here at Fineline Fishing Charters? That’s right, the snook fishing is just about as hot as the heat index on most days.
Steady Fishing @ Inlet
For the most part the fishing has been pretty steady at the inlet, about the same as it was last week, but has picked up a bit on both sides due to the cleaner and calmer water, also the presence of baitfish, greenies and nice schools of finger mullet coming into, and around the inlet.
Awesome Week Out There!
Awesome week out there! So many different species. Cobia, king, cuda, bones, sails and not to mention all the bottom dwellers. Its just that good right now and not to mention the great weather.
Thanks, Capt. Alex!
I want to give a big shout out to Capt. Alex Hughey for an awesome day on the water last week. We started the day targeting snook and man oh man did we get on them.
Grouper, triggerfish, Snapper…
The Ocean Obsession was back at it this past week putting their customers on some great fish. Grouper, triggerfish, lane snapper and mutton snapper are just a handful of the species caught.
Summer’s Heating Up!
New Smyrna Beach and Mosquito Lagoon have been heating up with some great fishing this past week. We have had multiple boat slams come boat side with trout, redfish and snook.
