Mixed Bag at the Inlets
There are a mixed bag of species at the inlets this week. What you catch will depend on what you want to use for bait.
Tough Weekend Opening for Snook at the Inlet
For the most part, the fishing at the inlet as a whole was, and still is pretty slow. Thanks to our hurricane Idalia who threw some wind, rain and big swells our way and pretty much put a damper on the fishing all last week and through the weekend.
Kayak Fishing Lake Toho & Shingle Creek
This week I am going to talk about 2 places that are very close together, but fish very differently, and are also connected. We’re going to talk about fishing the northern part of big Lake Toho, as well as fishing a body of water that feeds it, Shingle Creek.
Water Clearing Up Inshore
We had a couple of days to get off the beach after Hurricane Idalia and found some tarpon and sharks. Swell was pretty big but there was some bait around and a few fish if you found the bait pods. Snook were also hitting in the trough, but swells were too big to get to them by boat.
Snook Season Starts with a Bang!
Well, the date that all Floridians wait for if you’re an angler is here September 1. Snook season is open and it started off with a bang here in East Central Florida with heavy winds at the north east post hurricane.
No Fishing Offshore Last Week
Well, as may you know, but some may not, we have a lot of out of towners reading these reports. So, with that said, this week sucked. lol Due to the hurricane, we have not fished in a week.
Weekend Fishing Report
Get the latest word on the bite with Damon from Spacefish on the Mark Moses Show. We talk local fishing every Friday on the air at 4pm.
Snook Bite on Fire!
The snook have been on fire at the inlets and along the beaches on our recent trips. The best bite happened in the days preceding hurricane Idalia. The fall mullet run has started and this has the snook feeding like crazy in the areas mentioned.
The Inlet Bite is BACK!
As I predicted, fishing at the inlet has picked up again! The water temp is back up to 83-84 along the coast. In the inlet, baitfish are back and plentiful, along with more mullet appearing around the jetty and in the inlet. Fishing in the entire inlet has heated up!
One Slow Day @ Headwaters
Only got one day out on the water at Headwaters this past week. It was pretty slow, water temperatures still in the mid to high 80s this week. Looks like it’s going to be a complete blow out with a hurricane coming from the Gulf so winds will be an issue.
Headwaters Bass Fishing
Top baits this week for me has been a Zman Jackhammer, Bass Assassin RSB worm and the Mike Bucca Trick Shad 6”.
Not A Terrible Week Offshore
Not a terrible week. Not the best, but it worked out pretty good for everyone. Shark fishing was a 50/50 all week. Captain Arron had a few good trips, both offshore and nearshore with the sharks.
