Port Canaveral Offshore Report: August 2024
Every year at some point in August we get the great reset. After months of calm seas, clear water and easy fishing a passing storm will bring summer to an abrupt end.
Headwaters Boat Ramp Closing
The Headwaters Boat Ramp will be closed for paving from August 19th through the 24th.
Lake Ivanhoe, day 2
Went with a couple of friends back out on Ivanhoe, Saturday in his boat and we got 8 total. I got 6, 3 over 3lbs. 3.72lbs is pictured. I got another over 2lbs and only one under a pound.

Lake Ivanhoe
Got on the water just after 6 and started down the East side of I-4 and got a couple along the wall on the first drop off.
Debby Dodged
We managed to dodge Hurricane Debby over here on the East Coast of Florida, but with that being said our thoughts and prayers are with our friends on the West Coast.
Weekly Indian River Kayak Fishing Update
The week started off strong with favorable fishing conditions, but unfortunately, things took a turn for the worse in the latter half. Despite the challenges, I was able to find some productive spots, focusing on spoil islands and docks, which both yielded some great catches.
Storm-churned Waters Dampen the Action
This is going to be one of those ‘not so good’ reports, due to the nasty weather at the inlet all weekend. But it is what it is. Friday, when I was fishing early morning, the water on the north side was pretty clean beachside.
Great Fishing Inshore & Offshore
Had great fishing both inshore and offshore this past week. Inshore fishing the flats, the trout bite remains very good on pigfish as well as topwater baits early in the morning.
Kayak Fishing – Eau Gallie River
Summer is my favorite season on the Space Coast because I get more time to fish because I am not in school, it’s the best time of the year to throw topwater baits inshore, and Tarpon show up in high numbers in our inshore fishery.
Good Week on the Lagoon & Beach
Good week in the lagoon and fishing the beach. Good snook bite inside the lagoon on live bait.

The water temp is 85 degrees when we started this morning and 87.2 when we finished at 10:30am this morning...
