Surf

By |2022-10-25T16:58:31-04:0010.25.2022|

Hit the beach up this afternoon, one small pomp, black drum and a permit all on fishbite with a dead shrimp on the end. Weeds were manageable, not a lot of bait fish activities.

Kayak Fishing Report: Changing Weather/Changing Tactics

By |2024-05-20T20:33:23-04:0010.25.2022|

So this past week saw a cold front push through, and then strong north winds in the days that followed. I was able to go out and fish Saturday morning, I was going to return to Long Point to do a spot report there, but I ended up changing plans and fishing the Banana River in the Thousand Islands off of Cocoa Beach due to time constraints, and the need to make a Lowe's run after fishing for a home project we were working on this past weekend.

Mullet Everywhere in Fort Pierce

By |2022-10-24T12:47:26-04:0010.24.2022|

Mullet, mullet (almost) everywhere both north and south of town! If you’ll look closely you’ll see black mullet already round bodied with roe beginning to group-up. You should also notice lots of large schools of silver mullet in the six to eight inch range from the deeper flats to the shorelines. Finally, there are still a fair number of fingerling silvers holding close to structures like docks and mangroves.

High Water levels and Cooler Temps…

By |2022-10-24T13:03:44-04:0010.24.2022|

With the remaining high-water levels, off-colored water, winds, and latest cool down this past week’s inshore trips were some what of a challenge. Although slowly receding, water levels throughout our lagoons are still at a higher-than-normal level. All the runoff from the recent storm and winds from this latest cool front have the water fairly churned up which presented some difficulty for sight fishing on the flats and mangrove shorelines.

Surf Fishing Heating Up

By |2022-10-24T12:55:43-04:0010.24.2022|

The surf has started to clean up from the storm and the cold fronts are starting to move through the area cooling off the water temperature and getting the fall pompano migration started. Good numbers have been coming in around the state with big numbers in the Jacksonville area right now. The hot bait has been crab knuckles, live sand fleas and fresh clams. Fish bites white and yellow crab, coquina clam and sand flea flavor has also been producing.
