Good Bite Coming Off Full Moon
The bite has been pretty good throughout the Mosquito Lagoon waters. We are coming off the back side of the full moon along with a lot of rain this past week, which has created higher then usual water conditions. The higher water has pushed the redfish and trout up into the shallows of the Lagoon for a chance at new food source.
Big Change in Weather
It’s been a big change the last week here on the Space Coast weather wise. The bite in the surf continues to get better and better -- tarpon, snook, jacks -- and the mullet run is in full swing. However, the inshore bite has really picked up, too. With all the added water, shorelines that have been very shallow now have a good bit of water and have been holding good numbers of redfish, snook, trout and juvenile tarpon.
Tampa Bay redfish action
The redfish schools are now in session. Schools of reds are traveling the shallow flats and bars. Pitching live shrimp or cut threadfins or pinfish is a great choice while fishing for them.
Can you change with the times?
The last few years has definitely showed a shift in traditional fishing patterns for our area, but this year has been the most extreme for sure.
Kayak Fishing Report: Guide to Crane Creek
Happy Monday SpaceFish Family, I hope everyone had a blessed weekend, and got some time out on the water! I returned to Crane Creek Saturday morning. It was not my best day of fishing this summer, but it also wasn't my worst either. My overall thoughts on Crane Creek are [...]
Time for Snook in the Surf
One of best times of year to catch snook in the surf! September and October hold the combination title with for the peak of the mullet run along the Space Coast.
Another Outstanding Week Offshore
Another outstanding week we just finished up with! Flat and calm Lake Atlantic weather accompanied with Cobia, Kings, Blackfins and more.
Back on the Water
I’ve been hiding from the heat since the end of June. While I realize it’s now the peak of the summer’s heat I simply must get back out there and see what’s happening in real time and through my own experiences. To that end my wife (Kim) and I made it out twice this past week to scout a couple of favorite areas.
Inshore & Inlet Heating Up!
Inshore bite is starting to heat up and the inlet bite is still pretty good. Snook and redfish are feeding good on live baits in the inlet on outgoing tide mainly eating pigfish and pinfish.
Getting on the Meat!
The Ocean Obsession out of Sunrise Marina at Port Canaveral put their customers on the meat during their most recent extended trip. Some really nice Black-fin tuna decided to show up to the party as well!
Seaweed in the Surf Remains an Issue
Hey everyone! Surfs up and the central Florida surf fishing bite has been tough. I have been hearing LOTS of seaweed from Canaveral down to Sebastian. I’ve tried to throw lures and put out set rigs but with the pounding surf and surmounting weeds fishing has been difficult to say the least.
Fall Redfish Spawn
Fall is right around the corner and so is the yearly redfish spawn. From august through November, redfish and black drum start grouping up to spawn. The primary months are September and October, and these few months can be very exciting and yield some really nice fish. Anglers can find these fish on the outside edges of sandbars, submerged islands, and even on shallow flats with troughs and sloughs early in the morning.
