surf report

The early morning surf bite has been on fire the past week with pompano, whiting, and bluefish being the hot action. Good numbers of pompano have been getting caught all the way from Jacksonville to Melbourne. The bite has been shutting down around 10-1030am.

With sand fleas being super hard to find right now, the bait of choice has been fresh dead shrimp, crab knuckles, fresh clams, along with fish gum and fish bites yellow crab, white or orange clam, and pink and white shrimp tipped with some fresh shrimp. On either a standard pompano rig with green and yellow float or pearl beads to match the clams in the area, or Carolina rig with live finger mullet or fresh cut strips for the bluefish and bigger jacks that are following the bait pods.
