Whitecap and Snowpants on Headwaters
Only one day out this past week. I was able to hit Headwaters on Thursday, the coldest morning of the week. Winds were 10-15 out of the north and air temps were 45. It was a “Whitecap and Snowpants” morning to say the least.
Black Drum Schooling on Flats
Fishing has been good this past week especially for Black drum that have schooled up and moved into the flats. With the cooler temperatures and lower water you need to downsize your bait and move much slower with your presentation.
Port Canaveral December Forecast
December is finally here. The only thing you really need to know about this month in 2023 is if the seas are calm enough, go fishing.
High Winds & Seas Ahead @ Inlet
Last week again, the fishing started off really well with all sorts of different species being caught. The north side of the inlet was again the hot spot to be, the rest of the inlet was kind of dirty and slow, but the north side was pretty clean, until Thursday when the winds switched around to the SSE and picked up and just made it a dirty mess again!

Big Reds in Big Numbers
The big redfish are showing up in better numbers this week outside of Port Canaveral. The area known as the Canaveral Bight is known for producing giant bull redfish on a fairly consistent basis throughout late November and early December.
Drum Schools Chewing
The bite has been incredible this past week with schools of redfish and black drum. Look for more schooling with the shallow water and the colder temperatures this week.
Great Fishing & Weather
Recent trips have been yielding some great fish and great weather as well. With the recent cold fronts cooling temperatures down and shifting the wind direction it’s made for some great days on the water.
Kayak Fishing: Banana River (Kelly Park – Merritt Island)
This past weekend I fished a part of the Banana River I have never fished before on the west side of Merritt Island, just south of the 528 Causeway. I have to say, for a new spot I was pleased with how it went. Let’s dive in!
Looking for Flounder & Pompano Bite to Pick Up
Had a good week fishing inshore and off the beach. Plenty of trout, some pompano and a few snook on the menu. Artificial bite has been strong but the snook are definitely keying in on live bait along the mangroves.
Big Variance in Water Temps
Our first real cold front hit last week putting the water temperatures on Headwaters at a cool 63 degrees but by the weekend was back to the 70 degree mark.
Pompano and Whiting Showing Up
How's everyone doing today? What a great week we've had with weather and fish all over! The pompano have started showing up along with lots of whiting and black drum.
