Schooled Up Drum
The colder temperatures have brought clean water and schooled up redfish and black drum and made it very easy to sight fish these to species. On calm light wind days a shrimp on a naked hook with a small split shot will get it done or a well placed fly. Trout have been holding in some deeper areas as well as pompano and whiting. The fishing should continue to get better as the temperatures increase.
Great Fishing Offshore
Not a bad week at all. The fish are there! This is the season for the non stop action. The weather wasn't too bad last week and each day offshore proved amazing. This week looks beautiful to get out there. Light winds and no swell in sight till the weekend, but do expect the usual weekend winds.
Dummit Creek Fishing
Yesterday I took the kayak out to Dummit Creek around Titusville to get out and enjoy the weather. I fished around with some Vudu Shrimp and paddletails on a jig head. For the first few hours I got skunked, and it wasn't until I moved to the furthest north spot [...]
Gin Clear Water
The bite has been great in Mosquito Lagoon and backwaters just north of Brevard since our Christmas freeze. The water clarity has become gin clear making for some epic sight fishing this past week.
The Spawn Is Nigh!
The spawn is right around the corner! The fish are in the ditches close to the spawning flats. We have been catching them near the flats mid-lake at Headwaters. Our go-to baits have been the Andrew Mixon Boneshaker in black and blue, Hog Farmer Spunk Shad 4.5" swim bait, Bass Assassin RSB Speed Worm in gooseberry color and the Mike Bucca Bull Shad 8" gizzard swim bait fished along grass edges at a medium pace have all produced nice fish this week.
Small sheep’s in Eau Gallie
Went out Monday on the old town sportman 120pdl and was able to get a few sheep's by the train trussle. Was a very slow bite all day.. using sand fleas. Biggest caught was 11".… Fished from 8am to about 2pm. As usual lots of traffic there, other kayakers, paddle [...]
Happy New Year…
As 2022 comes to a close a can think of no better way to end it than putting a client on a bucket list fish! The water temps have rebounded from the Christmas weekend freeze and the inshore fishing has picked back up. Most inshore areas have cleared up as far as water clarity and fish are once again on the move in the shallows.
Entered Our Winter Pattern
Well Spacefish fans, we've entered our winter pattern with the serious cold snap that hit us last week. Unfortunately our inshore water temperatures dropped below the tolerance levels of many of the fish in the Indian, Banana, and Mosquito Lagoons.
Bite Improved with Warmer Temps
The last cold front dropped the water temps to right at 50 degrees in Grant and Sebastian over last weekend and the fishing was extremely difficult earlier in the week.
Heavy Fog but Decent Fishing
This was a good fishing week. The weather wasn't the most cooperative with the fog and wind but we managed a few good days off shore. Be careful with the fog! It's thick but it's been burning off fairly quickly.
Pompano Limits on Fishing Comeback!
With some planned travel and a month-long battle with a nasty bout of COVID, I had not been fishing for almost 2 months. Feeling good today as my 1st day back and limiting on pompano (12'-16"). Most on Fishbites tipped with shrimp in Melbourne Beach. Clean water, light winds, pyramids held just fine, 7:30am-11:30am. I fished the next morning in the same spot and landed 6 nice whiting, 2 pompano and a sheepshead.
2022’s Final Trip on the Party Boat
Good trip to end the year aboard the Ocean Obsession out of Sunrise Marina in Port Canaveral. One grouper acquired on the grouper trip but three pound vermillion's never hurt anyone’s feelings!
