Big Snook Back at It!
The Big snook are back at it again this week. Captain Justin and I are putting our charter clients on these beautiful fish at the inlets. Most of the snook are striking live baits during the daytime.
Tough Fishing Under Full Moon
The full moon this weekend made for some tough fishing off the beach. There is plenty of Mackerel, bluefish and small jacks around the inlet and nearshore reefs and the big Jack Crevalle schools are starting to show up looking for bait pods to demolish!
Good Fishing on Garcia & Stick Marsh
Last week's fishing was good on both Garcia and Stick Marsh. For Garcia, finding the cleaner water and having hydrilla mixed in was key to getting bit. Several lure presentations were also key. The early morning was my favorite prop bait but as the winds picked up the better choice was a Chatterbait(black/blue) being ripped out of the grass. The strike came just after you yanked it out of the grass.
Kayak Fishing Report – Sweet and Salty
This past weekend I had a chance to fish both days. I spent Saturday afternoon in the sweetwater, going back to Fox Lake for the second time in a month, and on Sunday I got my saltwater fix and went to a “new” spot. I had actually launched out of this place once before, in the summer of 2021, but I have never mentioned or written about this as a potential launch spot in a SpaceFish report.
March Fishing Report for North Georgia Trout and Striper
North Georgia Fly Fishing Spring has arrived really early this year and the trout and striper activity has picked up considerably. The warm rains we had in February have warmed the creeks and lake into the mid to upper 50s. Still seeing plenty of midges and winter stoneflies across North [...]
Good “Catching” in Fort Pierce
We took my 23 Bay Bolt out for a (very) nearshore adventure! Looking for “interesting” structure changes on the inshore reef between Fort Pierce and Vero Beach. We positioned the boat to allow short casts using light weights, 3/0 circle hooks and sardine chunks to entice our quarry.
Great Start to March Offshore
What a week! A very good start to March as far as fishing goes out of the Port. We had a few great days on the days that the wind allowed us to get out. Weather has us landlocked once again for a few days coming up, though.
Monster Post-spawn Fish
We have been catching some monster post spawn fish this week. We boated 2 over 10lbs and several others over 7lbs. These were all caught on shiners. That being said the artificial bite has been picking up as well.
Goliath Grouper Season
Goliath Grouper season starts tomorrow, March 1 -- if you have a permit, you can harvest 1 fish during the season that is 24” – 36” in total length.
Not A Bad Week Offshore!
Not a bad week at all. We had a few shark trips that worked out okay when the winds were westerly. Captain Joe lured in a giant 12-14 foot hammerhead that was eating the little sharks in the area and decided to eat our bonita.
Wind Couldn’t Make Up its Mind
We managed three charters this week and though the weather was basically nice, the wind couldn’t make up its mind as to velocity or direction.
The Best Type of Medicine
After going through two weeks of an Upper Respiratory funk I forced myself to go float in my boat. I figured it would be the best medicine. I spent the morning at Garcia.
