Conditions Static @ the Inlet
Good morning all my fishing friends! Hope everyone had a great weekend, and has a great and safe 4th of July! Here is your fishing report. As of Sunday, nothing has changed at the inlet except that the water has cleaned up some more, AND has stayed that way!
Ha-wrasseing Trip in & around Fort Pierce
Not to sound too cheesy, but Darren, Wyatt and Tommy had a ha-wrasseing trip in and around the Fort Pierce Inlet this week.
Thermocline is HERE…
The week started out amazing. We had flat calm conditions, storms at a minimum and hungry fish. Kings have been firing nicely on the reefs. Bunker have been plentiful and that makes it all super easy! Now, that was the start but not the end.
Z-Man and Smallies
I’ve been wanting to catch a Smallmouth bass for decades. Had I know there was good smallie fishing in South Carolina, an easy day’s drive from my central Florida home, I would’ve scratched that species off the bucket list long ago.
High Heat Index Hasn’t Affected the FIsh
The bite continues to be strong throughout the New Smyrna Beach and Mosquito Lagoon waters. Even though it seems like we have been living on the face of the sun this past week, with heat index over 100 it has definitely not effected the fish.
Weekend Fishing Report
Get the latest word on the bite with Damon from Spacefish on the Mark Moses Show. We talk fishing every Friday on the air at 4pm.
Kingfish Time!
It’s kingfish time on the Space Coast! Summer is in full swing and the beach is getting good! The last few weeks the kingfish bite along the beach has been very good, anglers can find these fish in a variety of depths.
Fish Not Bothered by the Rain
I am glad to see a light at the end of the tunnel with all the rain we have received this past week. The fish did not seem to be bothered but it did make for close calls with storms.
Trout Lake Bass Fishing
This week I am going to dive back into the Alligator Chain of Lakes, which crosses over 192 in St. Cloud, Florida. Last week I went and fished my 3rd lake on this chain, bypassing Alligator Lake and Lake Lizzie.
Tarpon Time
For anglers, summertime in Florida can be some of the best fishing of the year -- if you can bear the heat and don’t mind dodging storms. Along with all the usual inshore species, Tarpon of all sizes are perhaps one of the most abundant on the inshore flats and the back water estuaries.
Water Quality Improving at the Inlet
This report is going to be kind of short again as there has not been anything going on at the inlet to "write home" about, mostly due to the changing water conditions we experienced from last Wednesday through the weekend.
Bottom Fishing Remains Stellar
The Ocean Obsession (OO) out of Sunrise Marina at Port Canaveral has continued to keep their clients on some quality fish! This time of year it is very common for us to get a summertime thermocline which is a cold water upwelling that really slows the bottom bite.
