Banner Week with Fired Up!
Another banner week here at Fired Up. Amazing weather and beautiful ocean conditions. This is normally a report written for June conditions but now just finally enjoying here in August. I swear this year has been trying, to say the least.
Reef Snapper
The reef fishing has been on fire with great catches of lane snapper, red snapper and mangrove snapper. Our near-shore waters are loaded with tarpon feeding on bait pods. Trout fishing in the lagoon has been picking up lately with larger bait schools moving throughout the area.
Taxes go up the further East you go!
Evening bite on the Other Side has been pretty good the last couple of Fridays. Birds start working around 4pm and the bite has been consistent until dark. Average Yellowfin has been in the 20lbs with most of the bigger fish (60lbs range) getting hit by sharks before we can [...]
Glass Minnows Moving Through
Happy Monday, everyone, and welcome into a new week. The glass minnows have been moving through from Cocoa Beach south towards Melbourne Beach. We have been seeing multiple Snook, Tarpon, the occasional Sennet and Spanish Mackerel chasing the bait, as well.
Beautiful Week Offshore
What a week with a beautiful and calm Lake Atlantic throughout! Apart from a few scattered showers, the weather was a dream. Fishing was also a dream. Bunker have been plentiful and that makes for a great start to the day. The wrecks and reefs have been holding all sorts of action.
Bite Shutting Off Early
I fished the same pattern as the couple of weeks before. 3 Forks is still giving us some action the first hours of the morning, but the bite shuts off way too soon. Throwing small Double Barrel poppers on the 5wt for bluegill and small bass still keeps it fun.
Quality Fish on the Party Boat!
This past week the Ocean Obsession (OO) out of Sunrise Marina at Port Canaveral has had their customers on some quality fish. Mutton & mangrove snapper, black fin tuna, cobia and amberjack are just a handful of the species coming over the rail’s and into the pail’s. If you are looking for a fun half day or full day offshore fishing experience with a great Captain and crew then book a trip on the OO!
Kayak Fishing Report: Sykes Creek (Merritt Island) and Turkey Creek Rain Out
I think one of my favorite parts about fishing is that some days it all falls into place and works out well, and some days it’s an absolute grind, and other days are somewhere in between. I really can’t complain because I’ve had more “fall into place” days recently, but I attempted to get a good Turkey Creek report going this weekend and let’s just say it didn’t go as well as I hoped. So we’re going to put a pin in that for now.
Crystal Clear Water Outside of Sebastian
I was in the Keys last week with my wife and grandson, Noah. We went snorkeling for lobster for the first time in my life (and Noah's) and took him to catch some bonefish, too. What a great time we had!
Yamaha Best in Class
Boaters Exchange is pleased to announce that Yamaha has awarded our family-operated dealership in Rockledge, FL, the coveted “Yamaha Best in Class” award.
Good Tarpon Bite on Full Moon
With the full moon this past weekend the tarpon bite was very good using croaker's and finger mullet. Trout have been stacking up in bait schools willingly eating pigfish or croakers. Look for higher water levels coming in over the next few weeks and the mullet run to start soon on the beach!
Quality Fish on Artificials
We put a bunch of quality fish in the boat on artificial baits this week (and a few on shiners). The chatterbait bite is picking back up in the north lake. The Hogfarmer Spunk Shad is the best chatterbait trailer I can find. It has incredible action and is pretty durable. The bite is better a little later in the morning with this full moon. Most of the bigger fish this week came after 10:30am.
