Stick Marsh & Headwaters Report
James Cordiano with DraveUSA put up a video this week that we filmed at Stick Marsh. The topwater bite was really good till around 10am.
Mullet Run Getting Started!
What’s going on everyone! We’ve got the beginnings of the fall mullet run starting. Following the schools of mullet are big jacks, snook and tarpon. The glass minnows are beginning to thin out and the surf action is going with it. There are still lots of snook and tarpon around if you know where to look.
Fire Tarpon Fishing
Tarpon Fishing is on fire right now! Large numbers of silver kings are cruising our Space Coast waters this week. Most of these have been 75 to 125 pound class fish. Live baits rigged on a 7/0 VMC 7385 circle hook are the best way to target Tarpon. We have been hooking multiple fish every day on our fishing charters this week.
Kayak Fishing Report: Hot Tarpon/Snook Bite on Eau Gallie River
We have probably gotten more rain in the last 2 weeks in the Eau Gallie district of Melbourne than we have in the last 2 months. It seems that way, anyway. My yard isn’t the only thing that has been fired up about it, the Snook and Tarpon populations on the Eau Gallie River were fired up and absolutely chewing this weekend.
Beach Bite
What’s good my fellow fish slayers! Been a hot minute as I sold the Gheenoe and I’m in the looking phase. Hit up the beach mid afternoon with the family and decided to bring my rod and some gulp jerk baits on fathom jig heads in orange as the were the biggest I had.
The Best is Yet to Come!
Fall is quickly approaching and small pods of mullet are already starting to show along the beaches. The famous “mullet run” is almost sure to be a good one this year. With early signs of mullet, the bite should definitely improve. Anglers can find lots of action along the beaches and surf with a multitude of species ranging from Spanish mackerel, bluefish, snook, tarpon, jacks, sharks, and much more.
8/23 Surf fishing report
Been looking for tarpon and snook feeding in the first trough for while now, we’ve got reports of steady catches of croaker whiting and the occasional pompano as the water temps are still down in the nearshore current from the recent upwelling. Pompano, Whiting and Croaker will take fresh or [...]
Bait Situation Improving
Upwelling seems to have moved away and the bait situation is getting better. There is plenty of bait along the beaches but it is scattered and so are the fish. Snook are in the trough where you can find the glass minnows. Snook, sharks and tarpon are also away from the beach, as well, on glass minnows, pilchards and pogies.
Bait Pods Running the Beach
Still dealing with some weeds in the area, but the large bait pods have started running up the beach and along with the bait pods have come the tarpon large schools of 100 pound class fish, large jacks, and the sharks. The large predator fish are not the only things running right now, the resident pompano have been coming in great numbers to the north end of the county along with good numbers of whiting. With fresh dead shrimp and live sand fleas being the bait of choice. Finding the deeper holes and guts past the sandbars will provide great success.
Baby Torpedos Working @ Headwaters
At Headwaters we fished the north lake with Baby Torpedos (bullfrog and black). These things work great around hydrilla. If they get stuck give them a rip and they fish pretty weedless. You can fish them a little aggressive with a popping motion and then pause. We got a ton of action on them this week.
Great Near-Coastal Bite
It’s been a fantastic week of fishing for us here at Fineline Fishing Charters. The near-coastal bite couldn't get a whole lot better. On some days we're catching multiple species like tarpon, sharks, king mackerel, snook, Spanish mackerel, bluefish, and others.
Kayak Fishing Report: St. Sebastian River Back Country Slam
I hope everyone had a great weekend! At the end of every class period on Friday I talk to my students about the upcoming weekend, I tell them fun thing my family and I plan on doing, I hear from them etc. My 7th period U.S. History class has a few young men that like to talk fishing, and they know I love Snook and Tarpon, and Largemouth Bass.
