Stick Marsh Stuck in Summer Pattern
The Stick Marsh is still in a somewhat summer pattern way of fishing as of last week. We threw top water first thing in the morning but all they were doing was swiping at our lures and not really eating them. We switched over to lipless crank baits and started to hook up fish. It’s funny how temperamental these fish can be on color choices.
Good Fishing, Considering…
We had a great ending to some bad weather. Captain Joe did great bottom fishing for triggers and lanes and Capt Tyler did great on the cobia for a few days.
Good Week for Snook and Jacks
It's been a good week of inshore and inlet fishing with plenty of snook and jacks. Any live bait worked well in the inlet on either incoming or outgoing tides. Inshore bite has been good with plenty of snook on both live bait and artificial along the mangroves and pompano on the flats and spoil islands on jigs!
Regulation Updates for Seatrout & Cobia
Just a reminder, as of November 1, Spotted Seatrout harvest is prohibited until January 1, 2023. NOAA Fisheries have also recently announced the implementation of new Cobia regulations, effective November 21st: - Increases the minimum size limit to 36" fork length for both commercial and recreational sectors in the Florida [...]
Kayak Fishing Report: Turkey Creek – Palm Bay
Turkey Creek - I feel bad, like I have neglected you these last 3 years. I love kayak fishing the Eau Gallie River, and Crane Creek and over the last few years of living here have put in my time on both. I went out to Turkey Creek in August but had a horrible day - I spent more time ducking thunder storms than fishing.
Kayak Fishing Report: Mangroves to Marshes
This past weekend I had a chance to get out a go fishing on Saturday and Sunday mornings. I launched out of Long Point Park Saturday and had a good trip, and went out to Headwaters on Sunday, my first time fishing there since June. So I wanted to give a bit of info about both trips, and both launch spots.
Water Clarity Improving
The Fall bite continues to be good throughout the area. We have been bringing several different species boat side from redfish and trout to snook and jacks.
Great Week Inshore & on the Beach
Had a great week inshore as well as in the beach. Inshore snook bite and trout bite is still good. Find the schools of mullet and you should have success.
It Just Keeps Getting Better!
Last week we talked about the “epic” bite and you all know I don’t use that term loosely. Well, just when you thought the bite couldn’t get any better-it did!! We had multiple days with double digit snook weighing into the double digits.
It’s Party Time!
The Ocean Obsession out of Sunrise Marina at Port Canaveral has had their customers on some really nice bottom fish. Lane snapper, mangrove snapper, red group and triggerfish along with a number of other tasty critters have made it to the dock these past several days.
Fort Pierce Report
The snook bite has been pretty good throughout the inlet area, including the south jetty. Live shrimp, finger mullet and pilchards are producing the best on both sides of the tidal current changes. Artificial lures mimicking these natural baits will catch too, especially at night and other low-light times.
Tough Bite on 3 Forks & Stick Marsh
I fished 3 Forks and Stick Marsh last week. One was better than the other, but the bite was tough, to say the least. I believe it could be a transitional time of year for the fish to start their moves to possibly the areas they may spawn at.
