Night Bite
The late afternoon/evening bite has been best lately. I've been having success on the shallow flats around mangroves, especially in water holding baitfish.
Lake Toho: Whaley’s Landing
I fished Lake Toho on Sunday, Saturday I went on my first ever trip to Mosquito Lagoon, but today I am going to just talk Toho - but there will be Mosquito Lagoon write ups in the future! But as we enter a very exciting time on the Florida Bass Fishing Calendar (Spawning Season) - I thought this would be a good time to check out how Lake Toho is doing.
Cold and Chilly Fishing
This week has been brutal for fishing off the beach; the water has gotten really cold, and the fish do not like it at all. Finding the warmer breaks in the surf has produced some fish, but many are smaller ones.
Not Much Changed
Not a lot changed from last week to this week. Plenty of wind and rain still. We did have a few days with light winds but with the cooler temps the water hasn’t heated up and created more action for us inshore.
North Jetty Finally Open
First things first. The north jetty is finally open. And I mean 100 percent open: The temporary and cumbersome wooden repair structures are gone. Let’s give a big shout-out to the Sebastian Inlet State Park team for their hard work in returning the jetty to normal.
Good Week of Fishing
It’s been another good week of fishing here along the Space Coast. This week is basically a repeat of last week for us, except that the winds were crazy on a few of the days we got out.
Great Water Clarity for Sight Fishing
It looks as though our winter weather will be here for most of this week with cooler nights and 60’s to 70 during the days. With this little blast of cool air coming into Central Florida look for the fish to become really active throughout the backwaters of New Smyrna Beach and Mosquito Lagoon.
Weekend Radio Report
Get the latest word on the bite with Damon from Spacefish on the Mark Moses Show. We talk local fishing every Friday on the air at 4pm.
Return to Headwaters
I was one of the lucky folks who got to kayak fish Headwaters before the launch ramp opened up. We didn’t know it was called Headwaters back then. We just called it Fellsmere Reservoir. I fished it almost every weekend and I would usually see the same people every time I was there.
Big Redfish & Black Drum
It’s been another good week of fishing here along the Space Coast. Big redfish and big black drum have been highlighting our anglers' catches this week.
No Strikers, but Decent Fishing Otherwise
Wasn't the best weather this week but had a few days we were able to squeeze offshore. We couldn't find any kings or other strike style fish but managed a decent pic of lane snappers and a few triggers. It kept us busy for a day at least, lol.
