Weekly Fishing Report
This week, I shifted my focus from mangroves to dock fishing in pursuit of redfish. Seeking wind-protected spots, I discovered that fishing closer to shore in the morning and gradually moving to deeper waters as the sun rose yielded the best results. When the sun was high, I targeted docks [...]
Baitfish Hit or Miss on Beach
The weather has been cooperating, but it has been hit or miss for baitfish along the beaches over the last week. The reefs and wrecks in 60 to 90-feet of water are holding king mackerel, barracuda, red snapper, and shark when we've been able to find baitfish to slow troll over these structures.
Fishing can be Work
Last week wasn’t outstanding in terms of catches, but it was filled with lots of whiting, ladyfish, and black drum. Those pesky catfish loved the dirty water, and you had to fight through them to get to the better fish.
Decent Week on the Beach!
We had a decent week of fishing the beach. Bait is still scarce but its starting to show up in small numbers. Greenies around the inlet and pilchards inside have been fairly consistent.
Puttin’ THEM on it!
The Ocean Obsession (OO) which is based out of Sunrise Marina in Port Canaveral has continued to keep their customers on the fish. This past week was no exception with a number of different species being caught.
There’s Action if you can Find Clean Water
So, here we go off on another adventure into what's happening at the inlet. For the most part, again, it was kind of slow due to the dirty water present all weekend, but there was some action to be had if you found some clean water. The north side was the cleanest, whereas the south side was the dirtiest.
Slow Bite in Lagoon & Stick Marsh
It was a slow bite on both the Lagoon and Stick Marsh. The Lagoon gave up some small trout and mangrove snapper but nothing much more. We did find a spot where there were lots of snook, all were upper slot fish but they had nothing to do with our offerings.
Let’s Get Weird
For this trip report, I launched from the Eau Gallie Boat Ramp- once I launched, I went under the eastern causeway bridge (the short one), and then went north along the eastern shoreline until I got adjacent to Dragon Point, then I went over and fished around the point, then I went south again, and spent a few hours fishing the docks and shoreline, before calling it a day.
Weekly Friday Radio Report
Get the latest word on the bite with Damon from Spacefish on the Mark Moses Show. We talk local fishing every Friday on the air at 4pm.
Summer Pattern in Full Effect
The weather has finally leveled out here in the Central Florida area with our warm days and afternoon thunderstorms. With this summer time pattern in effect it has also put our fish into their summer time patter as well.
Fathers, Sons & Farm Ponds
Last week I wrote about taking a trip to George L. Smith State Park in Georgia - an awesome destination for kayakers and all that enjoy paddling in a beautiful natural setting. Today I am going to write about the fishing we did the rest of the weekend.
