South Florida Pomps!
South Florida, here! Super stoked to have a welcome arrival of pomps in the Hutchinson Island region. Northern fronts and the ground seas from offshore tropical depressions have surprisingly brought our resident fish to our beaches. A plus, plus for the ultra light jigging community -- pomps, lady fish and jacks have found a home at the Stuart and Jensen relief bridges.
Still Tough Fishing Offshore
This year went from 95 degrees and humid to fall overnight after Hurricane IAN. Well It seems to have taken the offshore fishing with it, as well. If you have a flats boat you can get on the mullet run and work the snook and reds over pretty good along the beach, but that's kinda where it stops. Wait... Or if you have a "go fast" boat for the FAR out fish, then you're still in luck.
Mandatory Speed Restrictions Proposed
We want to make you aware of an amendment that NOAA has recently proposed to the North Atlantic Right Whale Vessels Strike Reduction Rule...
Fall is Upon Us!
Fall is definitely upon us with these much cooler mornings and speaking of cool next week looks like we could get a little cold blast.
Canaveral Surf Fishing 10/11
Just a mess with debris, leaves, sticks, brush, etc. in the surf from Ian. Not even worth a trip out.
post hurricane fishing guide
Headwaters, Stickarsh and 3 forks have been absolutely on fire. As they are all connected; find a spot on or near where they transfer water. There are giant bait balls of shad around those areas. Full moon has caused another spawn and the fat girls are chomping. They are getting [...]
Freshwater Lake Temps Cooled Quickly
The hurricane cooled the water temperature down quickly at our lakes. The drastic temperature drop had the fish a little lethargic early in the mornings but I’ve noticed that is behind us now.
Bait Still Pretty Thick in Lagoon
Hurricane Ian really raised the water levels in the lagoon and brought a huge amount of fresh water and vegetation in the lagoon and through Sebastian Inlet. The bait is still pretty thick and the fishing was good all week although it slowed a bit with the full moon this weekend.
Port Canaveral Offshore Forecast: October
It’s going to be a challenging October. Passing storms are going to keep sea conditions up and our water trashed to at least the Gulf Stream. The few calm days in between will provide what I like to call big risk, big reward fishing. The risk is that the water will be trashed, and there won’t be a defined edge and we won’t be able to hardly catch anything.
Full Moon Slows Bite
With the recent full moon the crazy fall time bite that we had been seeing has slowed a bit this week. But it’s still been pretty good because the mullet run hasn’t slowed much. The fish are just feeding a lot at night so the daytime bite isn’t wide open anymore.
Surf Fishing Getting Active
Surf fishing has been getting very active post-hurricane Ian. We’ve had a solid push of fall fish such as redfish and pompano showing up on the beaches and at the inlets. Though the water temperatures aren’t ideal just yet for chasing those silver slabs, don’t be fooled, they are out there.
Offshore Fishing Opportunity Still Murky
hat an amazing week. Just kidding, Now that I have your attention, Here's the truth... Stay home and save your gas money. It's still muddy all the way out to the deep. If you want to go and play with the red snapper then your day will be awesome, though. As far as keeping a pile of fish...
