Summer Flying By!
I can not believe that it is already the end of August it feels as though this summer is just flying by. The fish are continuing ti chew well and the water clarity is still looking good for this time of year.
Massive Improvements in Seagrass Beds
First off, I’m sorry for being absent for so long. Between the poor inshore fishing here in my area and the summer heat, this old man has been hiding in the A/C…
Looking Like A Wet One
It looks like the short time of dryer air has came to a halt as the forecast is calling for afternoon showers for the rest of the week.
Water moving
Entire st John's basin is moving All floodgates river behind and pinches are on fire. Trick worms, flukes rattle traps are good start. Jerkbaits in overhead sun too. 15 to 20 fish per hrs is normal No giants but lots of quality fish Deep bait pods have proven to hold bigger [...]
Kayak Fishing: Turkey Creek
It is hot as Satan’s armpit outside, and there has been very little wind - this is also why I consider this time of year to be the dog days. That being said, there has been one species of fish that hasn’t gotten lockjaw over the past few weeks, and that has been the Tarpon. This week I am going to dive into Turkey Creek, one of Brevard County’s best places to go after this pre-historic sport fish.
Crazy Week Fishing the IRL
Wow! What a crazy week of fishing we had in the Indian River. The aftermath of hurricane Debbie brought cold water upwelling’s to the near-coastal waters, and this pushed lots of "beach fish" into our lagoons over the past 12 days.
Fishing Forecast: Excellent
Another exciting week of fishing is ahead of us, with a continuation of last week's successful strategy. Our focus remains on dock fishing, with some exploration of the spoil islands.
Fish Biting Throughout the Inlet
Good morning, Sebastian Inlet fishing junkies! Over the weekend, the water had cleaned up quite a bit, but remained cool at 81 degrees, which is a good temperature to improve the fishing action. Beginning on Friday and throughout the weekend, mullet arrived from the NE blow we had last week, but that does NOT mean the mullet run has begun, contrary to what some anglers claim.
Headwaters Report 8/17
The water temp is 83degrees when we started this morning and 86 when we finished this morning. Top baits this week for me were the Bass Assassin RSB worms, Chatterbaits and the Mike Bucca 6” Trick Shad Gizzard color.
Tough Beach Fishing
Tough fishing off the beach last week. The water was cold and the fish were picky. We did score on a few nice tarpon and some jacks but bite was slower than we have seen most of the summer.
Full Moon Turned on Tarpon Bite
The tarpon bite has really turned on with the full moon. It's the start of the mullet run so look for large schools of jacks crashing mullett schools in the intercoastal and tarpon crushing mullett along the beach with some kingfish mixed as well.
East Lake Toho and Butler
Got out 3 times last week but only fished 2 days. Wednesday I was on East Lake Toho and took off when I lost my 3 prop vent plugs and the boat just wouldn't go. Back on the trailer and saw they were missing.
