What a week for the Maui Wowis again. We pretty much got on them every day we could get out. The weather still played some havoc on us but made the best of it. Mahi and kings were chewing decently and it seemed like the smaller the ballyhoo the better.

Jacob pictured here with his first Mahi this year that was in about 170 feet. This crew had 5 nice ones. Congrats guys and I look forward to Kingfishing with y’all soon. Some reel fishing. LOL.

Bottom fishing was still very productive! We only have 1 month left till its shut down for the year so get on them while you still can.

Bunker have still been thick. Get live bait for best results.

This was the first year in over 5 that opening day of grouper season it was calm! Capt Joe made the best of it and crushed it. He had his 2 gags and a limit of AJs in the first hour. Well done Joey! The following days proved the same action. The weekend was a tad tougher though with the ocean being a little angry and not allowing a fun day, So we switched up gears and went for the mighty kings and that was great.The big boys were here and Capt Ricky had a few over 30. The reef was productive as was mid pelican. Live bait worked better than minnows.

The bunkers were hiding out in the bight and in front of the brown condos. It was not the easiest, but it worked.

This week looks iffy. The forecast does NOT match the ocean. Good luck, God Bless and be safe! OH… the Maui Wowis….. Yes, they are here and 140-180 is a great start. On what? anything! Go get em.

Not a bad week at all! The Captains all did a wonderful job making everyone happy once again. Sailfish, Kingfish and plenty of sharks to tug on. The weather was perfect. We had glass calm conditions pretty much everyday and that just makes it so much more fun. Not only for the customers but it lets the ocean clean up nicely and turns the fish on. We are also coming off the full moon and that’s even better.

Bait was still a hit or miss but for the most part worked out perfectly. Running to the reef or pelican is all we did. I will say that the reef was better this week. Captain Ricky had a few sails there, as well. Captain Joe had no problems limiting out on kings daily.

No secret spots or special tactics. Just get LIVE bait and send them out on a wire rig. No reports of any mahi being caught to make it worthwhile to troll up and down wasting gas all day. But please try and let me know, lol! There’s plenty of action on the reefs to have an awesome day. Bottom fishing opens up this week so have fun and be careful. I think it’s gonna be like red snapper day!

This is the first week since October that we were almost able to complete the entire week offshore. The fishing was literally good one day then bad the next. EVERY day. We feel the full moon had something to do with it.

GET BAIT. Bunkers have been around and one day is easy, next is difficult, but try to throw that net and make it work. Some days it seems to be the make and break. They have been scattered all over from the port to around the tip to Patrick AFB.

Pelican has been a little slow towards the end of the week. then it turned into the ocho Alpha. The water was much cleaner and the fish followed that. There was a clean line just outside it and held some fish. We also had some scattered sails and mahi. Please don’t go mahi trolling at the reef…

Minnows worked as well but once the live bait shows up you may as well throw the minnows as chum. It’ll turn them off quickly.

For all you Mahi lovers… Go king fishing. At least you will catch something. lol

They just aren’t here yet. The reef is holding more mahi inside of the stream. If you’re fortunate to have a go fast boat, then go to the other side or at least much farther out and use the radar to find them birds. Last week the tuna and mahi did very well, but it got slow over the weekend — well, slower. anyway.

First tuna trip of the year is in the books!

First tuna trip of the year is in the books for Captain Joey fishing aboard the Sea Trident with Sea Leveler Charters out of Sunrise Marina at Port Canaveral. Let’s just say they are off to a great start! Captain Joey kicked off the season with a bang for his customers crushing the yellow-fin tuna. It’s that time so if you are interested in getting in on one of these awesome adventures give them a call to book your trip now. April and May are prime months for tuna.

The Ocean Obsession out of Sunrise Marina in Port Canaveral put their customers on some really good fish this past week. Lane, mangrove and mutton snapper were all caught along with some nice triggerfish. If you are wanting to get offshore and catch some fish to bring home for dinner then book your next trip now!

It was a great week, for sure. Fishing was good and the kings were scattered along with the rays. We had way more kings though, lol. Kings did seem to fade out a little just before the wind cranked up. kinda odd because the ocean was beautiful too. Rays have been popping up kinda all over. Reports are scattered from free swimmers to rays to slicks/rips. So they are kinda scattered. 50/50 if they’re holding fish or not. Bottom species really are firing right now. triggers, lanes and snappers non stop. We have at least a week till the wind stops so have fun and be safe.

March is here and I finally have my first fishing report worth doing in 2024. The last 2 months have just been plagued with rough seas, cold dirty water and mostly very poor fishing.

We can expect many more fishable days this month as we transition into our spring time fishery.

Let’s start close and work our way out. Coastal shark fishing will steadily improve with warmer temperatures. Big black tip and spinner sharks up to 6ft 100lbs and lots of nice black nose and fine tooth sharks to be caught. Spanish mackerel fishing will be really good with the slightly below average water temperature holding them but we can expect the pompano to be a little later than usual, along with triple tail as that temp comes up so that is all adding up to a action packed March.

Next on everyone’s brain will be cobia. Will we see an actual cobia run along the coast that we remember of years past? Unfortunately, I think the answer is no. Thus fishery has morphed into something different and not quite as fun as sight fishing for them. The cobia are here but they are going to be spread out deep and sticking with the big bull sharks & sandbar sharks that plague every bit of structure along the Florida’s East coast.

Bottom fishing for stringer fish such as lane snapper & trigger fish is going to be awesome as long as long as the dirty green cooler water temperatures stay with us. These are also really good conditions for mangrove snapper. In the past we always have enjoyed the larger mangrove snapper the waters off Port Canaveral are known for but I highly suggest trying to target the smaller mangroves because it is almost next to impossible to get anything over 5 pounds past the sharks.

Good chance we see a little bit of an early mahi run as the colder green water butts up against the warm clean water of the stream. Blackfin tuna and sailfish will right there with them. I don’t expect it to be fast and furious fishing but good days can be had if you’re willing to work at it.

Amberjack fishing will be really good but as always the challenge will be to get them past the sharks. Try your best and then go vermillion fishing.

We are looking forward to a great Spring Break and are very excited to put this windy, rainy, miserable winter behind us.

What a great few days we had. Kings showed up and they showed up hungry! Pelican seems to be holding the fish nicely. Not just kings on the troll, but the bottom dwellers, too. Triggers and snapper variations are also going strong. Cut bait chicken rigging is the trick.

Bunker have been around so look and try to get a net on them. The kings have been happy to chew them up. Meanwhile, unfortunately, there hasn’t been any Mahi around yet.

Cobia are on rays and free swimming north of the bouy line. It’s nothing crazy, but we seen them there the other day and picked up one decent sized fish.

On a good note the weather looks great this week for offshore fishing. We are locked and loaded and ready to roll. How is fishing you ask? I think it’ll be just fine.

Cobia are making a presence as well as some bottom dwellers. We had a few shark trips this week and it’s been great for the most part. Earlier is better than afternoons. Crushed it yesterday on our full day trip. Over 20 mangrove snappers, about 100 lane snapper some trigger fish and other species. Plus released a bunch of cool fish. Set your eyes on this coming Friday. Weather might get us Wednesday and looks like some bad on the horizon for next weekend.
