Weekly Fishing Report
It was a typical week on the water, with plenty of average-sized catches to go around. However, the scorching heat made things a bit more challenging for both fishermen and fish alike.

Today's report goes back to last weekend, where I made my first Tarpon specific trip of the year, to one of East Central Florida’s most famous Tarpon fisheries, the St. Sebastian River.

Weekly Fishing Report
This week, I continued to focus on dock and flat fishing for redfish, similar to last week's strategy. However, today (Monday, July 8th) brought a exciting change of pace. I decided to explore the mangroves and was thrilled to find abundant activity.
Hole in the Wall Island
I launched from the 69th Street Kayak Launch in Vero Beach, this spot is located just south of the Wabasso Causeway. Even though it is a little bit of a drive south from where I live in Melbourne, I have enjoyed great fishing success in the areas between Sebastian and Vero, the borderlands between the Space & Treasure Coasts have really clean water, a healthy and thriving population of Snook, and more Seagrass and Oyster beds than you will encounter fishing between Titusville, and Palm Bay.
Let’s Get Weird
For this trip report, I launched from the Eau Gallie Boat Ramp- once I launched, I went under the eastern causeway bridge (the short one), and then went north along the eastern shoreline until I got adjacent to Dragon Point, then I went over and fished around the point, then I went south again, and spent a few hours fishing the docks and shoreline, before calling it a day.
Fathers, Sons & Farm Ponds
Last week I wrote about taking a trip to George L. Smith State Park in Georgia - an awesome destination for kayakers and all that enjoy paddling in a beautiful natural setting. Today I am going to write about the fishing we did the rest of the weekend.
Travel Report: George L. Smith State Park (Georgia)
On Friday morning, my brother and I loaded up our kayaks and went to George L. Smith State Park, which is located about 35 miles north of where he lives. This is a place I have wanted to kayak fish for a while, because it is an absolutely, stunningly beautiful place for a paddle - it is frequently listed as one of the state of Georgia’s top destinations for paddling, as it features a winding cypress swamp.

The Big Snook Are Still Biting
I've been finding success in the early hours, with snook activity on the flats peaking around sunrise. As the Florida sun climbs, these sought-after game fish retreat to the cooler waters and shade provided by the mangroves.
Kayak Fishing – Wabasso Causeway/Marsh Island
So today I am going to talk about my last two trips; they were both quicker, shorter outings, so I am going to combine them into one report. I launched from the north side of the Wabasso Causeway - Boat Ramp this is the boat ramp on the south side of the causeway, I parked on the northside and launched my kayak from the beach access.
