A Kayak Angler’s Guide: Stick Marsh/Farm 13
When I moved to Brevard County in February of 2020, it didn’t take long for me to become a full blown kayak fishing addict, I’m from Georgia, the land of farm ponds - freshwater fishing is all I had really known outside of fishing the low country for a couple of months when I lived in McIntosh County, GA in 2015. So when I started kayak fishing I fished solely our inshore waters - to which I thoroughly loved, enjoyed and was enriched by.
Thousand Island Conservation Area, Cocoa Beach – Paddle Anglers Guide
The Thousand Islands formed as a result of an ancient tidal inlet that breached this barrier island and flowed across modern-day Cocoa Beach. The indigenous Ais people, a fisher-gatherer society, lived along the inlet. Their oyster shell middens gave rise to the tropical hammocks still evident on the islands today.

Giant Black Drum on the Yak
I've been working more than fishing recently, but finally got on the water this weekend! I hit the shallows of the Indian River's north end with my kayak and managed to get on some giant black drum. Check out the light tackle, sight fishing action in my latest video. Really, what an epic adventure!
Nearshore lively action
This will be an almost week late report and also my very first report. The water conditions were excellent for me to fish the nearshore reefs in my kayak so I couldn’t pass it up. I stopped at my usual bait spot and loaded up on some live mullet and Hit the water around 630am and the water was full of life.
Kayak Fishing
Put the kayaks in on the east side of the river by Crab Point on Sunday. Fished the docks and the canals with shrimp and paddle tails. Couple small trout and a sheepshead (plus a few hard heads). The water was kinda clear.
Wabasso
Put the kayaks in at Wabasso after picking up shrimp at Treasure Coast. Started out slow then picked up some trout in 15”-18” range around the mangrove. Also nice Black Drum too.

Kayaking Canaveral Barge Canal from the Indian River to Drawbridge
Watching daybreak on the water or in the woods has been a joy to me ever since I was young, This morning to say the least it was a bit brisk. I slid on my pair of fishing gloves remembering that a year ago I was staying in a log cabin catching Steelhead.
Kayaking the west side north of 528 causeway
I got to sneak out for about an hour and a half this morning after waiting out the rain. On the way paddling to some docks that I wanted to fish, there was a shore-to-shore full rainbow. I was tossing either a blue and white buck tail jig or a red and white topwater anytime I saw a mullet jumping.
Big Reds Active Inshore, but Bad Weather through Thursday
There have been a lot of big reds on the eastern shoreline North Indian River Lagoon between North Merritt Island and east of Titusville. The fish have been scattered in the North Merritt Island area and blind fishing chunks in 2-4 ft deep has been the best bet. I have seen some tailers that wouldn't eat a thing or spook. The water has been murky NASA Causeway southward.
Snookie Time
It’s time to get a little snookie, and I ain’t talking about the Jersey Shore! Snook season is upon us and I couldn’t be more excited. With several recent years of warm winters under our belt, the stocks of snook in our area have skyrocketed. Typically, we are considered the north end of the snook range, but these warm spells have put us in a different category.
