We only finished one day last week. The goal is to always try to catch live bait before heading offshore. Some days we do, some days we don’t. The good news is the pogies were plentiful and in the Port so we got live bait pretty quickly. We focused on fishing Pelican and managed some decent kingfish and a few short cobia too. Looking forward to our next break in the wind to get back out and catch’em up!

The kingfish have been on the reefs one day in good numbers and then the next day they’re not. It’s been kind of odd honestly. Pogies are showing up in the port, actually more into the bite but they are there. Catching bait before you run offshore always stacks the deck in your favor. Bottom species that have been most consistent are triggerfish and lane snapper. This is fun chicken-rig fishing that the kiddo’s love. You don’t need to go farther than the reef, this is where the action is concentrated.

We were able to get out on the ocean the last couple of days which has been great. The kingfish bite on 8A has been just fine using frozen minnows. Bottom fishing was very good too with some quality amberjack and Red snapper on 21. We are ready to rock so let’s get you offshore and catch some fish!

We only ran a couple of Shark trips this week. We just fished along the beach and our clients caught quite a variety of small sharks and one big tiger shark too, which was awesome! We also caught a bunch of big redfish, as well.

The Ocean Obsession out of Sunrise Marina in Port Canaveral did a great job putting their clients on “The Meat” the last couple of trips when the weather cooperated. We got to fish for red snapper last week as part of the EFP Snapper program. Needless to say everywhere we went we caught a red snapper of large size. These were the first red snapper over the rails. We managed 1 gag in the mix and 1 set of red grouper lips lol. The rest was taken by very large bull sharks.

The few days that we were able to get offshore were very good. The kingfish bite was on fire and so was the bottom bite. There were plenty of lane snapper and triggerfish to go around and we even saw a few little grouper pop up. We pretty much just fished around Pelican Flats because we didn’t really need to go anywhere else. We are starting to see some cobia and pop up again too. Now is the time to get them. Pretty much from now till February and then they’ll probably be gone for the year again. The good old days of March madness are gone.

Ty Beck caught two nice kings while on break from Georgia Southern. The fish were caught two miles east of the weather buoy on a beautiful day.

Skylar Beck caught this nice blackfin tuna just outside the cones. Skylar was fishing with her brother and dad. She also was visiting from Georgia Southern. Go Eagles!

December has started off with a bang! The fish are big and hungry. Snook, bull redfish, tripletail and black drum are the main species captain Justin and I have had come over the gunnel this past week. Live baits like croakers, finger mullet and shrimp seem to be working best. We continue to rig these live baits on a 3/4 to 1-once knocker rig or 1/4 ounce Assassin jig head. As long as the water temps continue to stay in the lower 70 degree range along the near-coastal waters you can expect this incredible bite to continue.
