Let’s Get Weird
For this trip report, I launched from the Eau Gallie Boat Ramp- once I launched, I went under the eastern causeway bridge (the short one), and then went north along the eastern shoreline until I got adjacent to Dragon Point, then I went over and fished around the point, then I went south again, and spent a few hours fishing the docks and shoreline, before calling it a day.
Kayak Fishing: Mangrove Islands – Sebastian Inlet State Park
I launched my kayak from the kayak/canoe launch located within Sebastian Inlet State Park - located on the south side of the inlet at Sebastian Inlet State Rec Area.
Kayak Fishing: IRL from Sebastian
Today I am reporting on kayak fishing in the Indian River Lagoon, launching from the western shoreline in Sebastian.
Kayak Fishing: Top Summer Inshore Spots
So today I am going to switch gears a bit from some of the usual spot reporting that I do, and actually offer up a sampler pack of sorts. Today I am going to talk about some of my favorite summer inshore fishing spots for kayak fishing here on the Space Coast.
Kayak Fishing the Indian River
Fishing enthusiasts know that success on the water can be a delicate balance of skill, timing, and the right equipment. This past week has been a testament to that, with anglers finding the most success in the early hours and late afternoons.
Kayak Fishing: This, That, and The Other
We’re in April folks, but for the past week or so you wouldn’t know it if you get up out of the house before 7 am - it’s been in the 50’s the past 5 mornings in Melbourne at day break, but since the rain we got on Thursday we’ve had 3 straight days of bluebird skies and the barometric pressure has been way up.
Inshore Kayak Fishing – High Percentage Areas
Now this week, I am doing a slight shift in focus, and instead of focusign on a particular launch spot, focusing on choosing high percentage areas to go inshore fishing.
Kayak Fishing: Navigating Wacky Winter Weather in Central Florida
This week instead of talking about a "spot" to kayak fish, I am going to talk about how to navigate through, and catch fish during the wacky wintertime weather patterns that we have been getting. Let’s dive in!
Kayak Fishing: Horseshoes & Hand-Grenades in Melbourne
I was a little squeezed for time this weekend, my football team won again Friday - we’re currently 7-2, and having already defeated Holy Trinity we have our last regular season game this week, and with a win will lock up a district title and home field advantage for the round of 16 playoff game.
Father-Son Fishing: Melbourne
So we have found us a great spot for inshore fishing from land, Kiwanis Park at Geiger Point located at the base of the Melbourne Causeway (192) right there in downtown Melbourne. This is a good spot for several reasons.
Kayak Fishing Sebastian Inlet State Park: Part II
I’m back today to pick up where we left off talking about Kayak Fishing Sebastian Inlet State Park. I talked to you about enough non-fishing stuff last week, so without further ado, let us dive right in!
Kayak Fishing Sebastian Inlet State Park
We are back in the yak this week talking about a place that holds Snook so big you will probably have to climb out of your kayak to properly land, revive, and release them. Let’s talk about one of the world’s most famous Snook fisheries, Sebastian Inlet!
Kayak Fishing: Fisherman’s Landing – Grant, FL
oday I am going to talk about a spot in the Grant-Valkaria area that is a truly fantastic place to launch a kayak or paddleboard and go inshore fishing. The park is called "Fisherman's Landing" and with a name like that, I would have been severely disappointed if the fishing would not have been on point, but two trips in the last month resulted in inshore slams being caught both times, so no complaints from me!
Kayak Fishing: Banana River and More
I have been enjoying my first week off of school, and have taken advantage of the opportunity to get out and fish and explore new places/places I haven't been in over a year. I fished a new spot on the Banana River outside of Cocoa Beach, fished an early morning on the Indian River Lagoon and did some Bass fishing with my cousin Mark who is down for our family reunion. So let's dive in!
Kayak Fishing Report: Grab and Go Quick Trips
Happy Sunday SpaceFish, This past week, I have been busy, it’s just been one of those weeks where work, family, etc all just converge to make getting time on the water tough. If you’re like me sometimes it feels like you need time on the water to breathe, and luckily for me, I was able to spend a few pockets of time to get on the water, and catch a good number of fish! Work Trip - Orlando: The first little excursion I want to talk about is a trip to urban Orlando. I coached QB’s at a combine [...]
Kayak Fishing Report: In the Bleak Midwinter
I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas, and Happy New Years! Our family had a wonderful Christmas, our two young boys had a great time, which was just magical for my wife and I to see.
Kayak Fishing Report: Mangroves to Marshes
This past weekend I had a chance to get out a go fishing on Saturday and Sunday mornings. I launched out of Long Point Park Saturday and had a good trip, and went out to Headwaters on Sunday, my first time fishing there since June. So I wanted to give a bit of info about both trips, and both launch spots.
Kayak Fishing Report: Honest John’s Fish Camp – Old Florida Experience
Saturday morning I got up early and spent the day fishing one of my absolute favorite places to launch out of and fish. Honest John’s Fish Camp located on Mullet Creek on the Indian River Lagoon, a few miles north of Sebastian Inlet, and just southwest of Indian River Preserve State Park
Kayak Fishing Report: Guide to Crane Creek
Happy Monday SpaceFish Family, I hope everyone had a blessed weekend, and got some time out on the water! I returned to Crane Creek Saturday morning. It was not my best day of fishing this summer, but it also wasn't my worst either. My overall thoughts on Crane Creek are that it's great place to paddle, and if you are able to catch a few fish in the meantime, all the better! It is very similar to the Eau Gallie River in the scenery, the structure, and the type of fish that can be targeted there. In the summer time, [...]
A Fresh (Water) Approach to Inshore and Back Country Kayak Fishing
If you are reading this and you like mixing it up here on the Space Coast between freshwater fishing and inshore stuff, this is for you! I put in a combined 20 hours of kayak fishing using only "freshwater" designed baits.
