Kayak Fishing: Top Summer Inshore Spots
So today I am going to switch gears a bit from some of the usual spot reporting that I do, and actually offer up a sampler pack of sorts. Today I am going to talk about some of my favorite summer inshore fishing spots for kayak fishing here on the Space Coast.
Creek Fishing: Guide on Paddle Fishing the Tributaries of the Indian River Lagoon
So this week, I am really excited to talk about what might be my favorite way to kayak fish here on the Space Coast – “Creek Fishing”. I am talking about the Eau Gallie River & Elbow Creek, St. Sebastian River, Crane Creek, Turkey Creek, Goat Creek, Horse Creek (lot’s of generic animal creeks).
Kayak Fishing Report: Grab and Go Quick Trips
Happy Sunday SpaceFish, This past week, I have been busy, it’s just been one of those weeks where work, family, etc all just converge to make getting time on the water tough. If you’re like me sometimes it feels like you need time on the water to breathe, and luckily for me, I was able to spend a few pockets of time to get on the water, and catch a good number of fish! Work Trip - Orlando: The first little excursion I want to talk about is a trip to urban Orlando. I coached QB’s at a combine [...]
Kayak Fishing Report – Sweet and Salty
This past weekend I had a chance to fish both days. I spent Saturday afternoon in the sweetwater, going back to Fox Lake for the second time in a month, and on Sunday I got my saltwater fix and went to a “new” spot. I had actually launched out of this place once before, in the summer of 2021, but I have never mentioned or written about this as a potential launch spot in a SpaceFish report.
Kayak Fishing Report: Over the Dam – Eau Gallie River
I fished Saturday on the Eau Gallie River, and to say the least it was a pretty wild day. I had an absolute ball, covered miles of the river, went over the dam and fished the freshwater side, and ended up catching 22 total fish from 7 different species.
Kayak Fishing Report: In the Bleak Midwinter
I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas, and Happy New Years! Our family had a wonderful Christmas, our two young boys had a great time, which was just magical for my wife and I to see.
Kayak Fishing Report: The Calm Weekend Before The Storm
Saturday evening I was on the Eau Gallie River, the Elbow Creek stretch, and there were hundreds of White Ibises perched in the mangroves. I thought that was cool, it was beautiful and kind of ominous at the same time. The Ibis is synomous with hurricanes, that's why Miami's mascot is Sebastian the Ibis.
Kayak Fishing Report: Hot Tarpon/Snook Bite on Eau Gallie River
We have probably gotten more rain in the last 2 weeks in the Eau Gallie district of Melbourne than we have in the last 2 months. It seems that way, anyway. My yard isn’t the only thing that has been fired up about it, the Snook and Tarpon populations on the Eau Gallie River were fired up and absolutely chewing this weekend.
Kayak Fishing Report: Eau Gallie River Part I – Elbow Creek
We started back to school (pre-planning)l this week as teachers so getting back into the routine I was more limited in my fishing, since I was limited I decided to stick close to home and fish the Eau Gallie River, since I live 3 miles from Ballard Park. I consider the Eau Gallie River to be my "home waters" since it's the closest bigger body of water to my house, which we moved into in January.
A Fresh (Water) Approach to Inshore and Back Country Kayak Fishing
If you are reading this and you like mixing it up here on the Space Coast between freshwater fishing and inshore stuff, this is for you! I put in a combined 20 hours of kayak fishing using only "freshwater" designed baits.
