Fished inshore with mixed results. Inconsistent cold weather and winds have made the bait scarce and with the bait scarce the gamefish are scarce as well.
Despite the relentless winds keeping many anglers off the water, fishing has been exceptional when conditions allow. On my recent outings, I’ve found the usual suspects – snook, trout, and redfish – feeding actively around schools of bait.

Well gang, it’s definitely spring time. We have cold conditions one day, hot conditions the next and 360° of wind twice a week. This has the fish completely confused and almost un-pattern-able in the lagoons right now.

Good week of fishing inshore and nearshore. Nearshore bite was good with plenty of bluefish, mackerel, jacks and sharks. Plenty of action on artificial baits as well as live bait for the sharks and mackerel.
The weather finally started to behave here in the Central Florida area this past week. The wind had subsided making the backwaters of New Smyrna Beach and Mosquito Lagoon slick out for a few days.
This past week was extremely productive, and I expect the strong bite to continue this week. Early in the week, I found larger schools of mullet, which is typically what I look for when fishing for snook.
