These next few weeks in April will most likely be the end of our spawning season for bass here in our waters. We will go through a post spawn kind of transition with some males guarding their fry while the female moves off her bed and gets a break from motherhood. Once this all takes place and everything settles down, the bass will be hungry and more aggressive to moving baits. Dust off and sharpen your hooks on your favorite topwater lure for some explosive action.

I myself will also be looking forward to the next spawning season but it won’t be for bass but for the aggressive bluegill which will occur around May or June to take place. Small fly patterns or a Beetle Spin placed in and around a bedding area will be a blast!
