Great weather this past week for us Floridians. I hit the Stick Marsh on Wednesday, and my game plan was to work the SW area of Farm 13(The Nursery). With little to no wind it allowed me to move around in the shallower areas that had scattered walked grass and stumps. I never saw any kind of bedding activity and only caught several male bass that day. I started out throwing a Gambler EZ Swimmer for starters and caught fish but had lots of fake bites as well. The gar would not stop nipping at my presentation and would come back without the tail section. I switched over to my bubble gum trick worm and did very well on it.

The next two days were on the Lagoon. Thursday was a solo trip. I worked some areas that years and years ago held bigger snook and I found them still grouping up just like the olden days. I did get one to eat but came undone when she made her first jump and head shake. I managed 3 other smaller ones by throwing my favorite 3D Fingerling suspended jerk bait. Once the sun got higher in the sky they tucked in under the mangroves, so I moved on. It’s nice to see that our speckled sea trout are showing up more in numbers even though the grass has not. All my trout came from the mangrove edges that had sun hitting it. If there was shade, I never got a bite. The next day was joy riding along with some old friends. I’m not a weekend warrior kind of person but here I was on the water. It was much slower than a couple of days before. All in all, a good week of wetting my line. I hope all have a Happy Thanksgiving and enjoy the company surrounding you.
