The weather has been a little touch and go here in the New Smyrna Beach and Daytona Beach area with a lurking storm system moving up our coast. But the good news is that the storm system is moving north and the fishing is back to normal throughout the backwaters. We continue to have great numbers of bait pods throughout the New Smyrna Beach waters south into Mosquito Lagoon and the fish are all in the mix of them. Look for the bait to be high up on the bars and flats with trout, snook and redfish in the mix. Plugs, spoons and soft plastics have been working well casting to early morning tailers as the cut bait, live finger mullet and pinfish have also been a go to as well. It looks as though, weather-wise, things are getting back to normal for the upcoming week which means those fish will be back to chewing.
