The bite throughout the New Smyrna Beach area continues to be strong as we approach the end to August. We have been boating several different species both in the shallows of Mosquito Lagoon and also throughout the Intracoastal. The bait pods have really started to move inshore and along the beach making a great food source for jacks, tarpon, snook and other game species. The redfish bite and trout bite has been good across the shallows with the bait covering the grass flats look for the game fish to be mixed in as well. Plugs, spoons and soft plastics have all been working well along with a variety of live baits. With the recent afternoon showers the water temps have cooled down a bit which has also secured the recent bite. Look for the same weather pattern to continue into next week.
