Stick Marsh waters are finally cleaning up yet at this report no signs of a Shad Spawn has occurred. Last year at this time it was on fire. We had our full moon this week early in the month of May so maybe on the next full moon the shad will get busy.

Thursday we had some SE winds and overcast conditions to start my morning, which is perfect for a topwater bite. My second cast of the morning proved me right and finally the fish were willing to play along. My favorite lure for when there is a slight chop on the water is a YO ZURI 3D Prop. The prop makes the best commotion in these conditions to bring a bass to the surface to eat. When I get a miss from a fish I will follow up with the Inshore Surface Minnow and burn it back to the boat so as to run about a foot under the surface where the missed surface bite was. Most of the time that same fish will eat it. Once the sun came out late morning and the wind came to a complete halt, my bite shut off. It’s about that time of year where it will become an early start with an early off pattern for me as the temperature rises. Water temps are in the lower 80’s by noon time at this moment.
