The SE spillway at the Stick Marsh was flowing on Thursday but at a much slower volume as the week before. The first thing I noticed was the smell. The bottom has been churned up for awhile now and it was as if there was a Port O Potty very close by. The first half hour gave up no fish for us but then the switch was turned on and the catching began and didn’t stop for another 3 hours.

Throwing a Carolina Rig was the best opportunity to get a bite. With such a current you needed at least a 1/2 oz. weight to get it down to feel the rock on the bottom. Switching the baits up at times from a Speed Worm style soft plastic to a Craw style of plastic kept the bite going for us.

This week’s weather looks much cooler but the winds are going to blow for most of our week. This should start a transitional change for the bass moving around and heading for shallower areas on our lakes. We need water temperatures to get into the 70’s for the bass to get frisky for some great days on the waters.
