I previously declared “the end” of the spring pompano migration — and I was wrong. This weekend, the beach and surf was clear of weeds and the water was pretty clean, and the schooly pompano were out in full force again. We caught a lot of them, but none measured greater than 11″ to fork. Lots of smaller to mid-sized whiting were in the mix, too,

With low winds and calm seas — typical summertime patterns — forecasted for the week ahead, I’ll be looking to score my first surf snook of the season. There should be lots of opportunity this week, especially in the mornings.
