Dorian AKA “Miss Spacefish” had a fast and furious back-to-back double hookup on sheeps and whiting!

With March winds, surf fishing predictably got off to a challenging start this month. There was a lot of chop and slop out there on Friday, and it had the water churn up a good bit on Saturday, which did clear up as the day progressed. There was some a bit of sargassum present, but not too much to be any significant nuisance, and big daddy sandfleas were pretty much everywhere — and the fish responded accordingly. I was not among those fortunate anglers to score pompano over these past few days, but I did see a few 11″-13″ fish reeled in, and heard there were others getting into the pomp on nearby beaches.

The pompano schools are also still reportedly holding in the lagoon flats around Sebastian Inlet, so peak season is here, and any day could produce a bag limit. If you want a chance to hit the jackpot, the time is now to get lines in the surf as often as one can. See ya out there!
