The water levels have rose throughout the backwaters of Mosquito Lagoon and the region’s backwaters over the past week. With the recent rains and NE winds the water levels have came up which along with the influx of bait pods just reassures that Fall is in the air. The fish are definitely starting to move into their Fall time pattern as the spawning redfish and snook hold closer to the inlet and the Lagoon fish look for new feeding opportunities with the higher water. It looks as though we are expecting a cool front to dip down into Central Florida by the weekend with some much needed dryer and cooler temperatures. As the water continues to pump in look for the fish to move with the bait into new areas to feed. Spoons, plugs and soft plastics have been working well early as the same for live bait like mullet and pinfish.
