Good week of inshore fishing and nearshore fishing with plenty of snook, trout, redfish and jacks inshore and tarpon and sharks nearshore with lighter winds and calm conditions. Had to get out early to beat the heat but the fishing was more normal for this time of year than we’ve seen the last several weeks. Hot weather and calmer winds definitely helped the bite and the full moon made the bite early. There’s a lot of bait in most areas of the lagoon and the snook, redfish and trout are right in there mixed in. Topwater bite early has been pretty good and live bait works well as the sun gets high. Nearshore was pretty good all weekend with some tarpon showing up and plenty of sharks and jack action. The jacks have been shy as they are daisy chaining along in smaller schools and very picky.
Water has been pretty clean and the bait is showing up well. If we can get into our typical summer patterns with wind and calm seas, the bite should stay consistent for the remainder of summer.
