We had a good week of inshore fishing despite the north winds and tons of rain all week. North winds have kept us from running the beach looking for schools of mullet and tarpon. Inshore slams aren’t hard to get this time of year and we’ve managed to get our fair share of snook, redfish and trout lately.

Mullet are starting to show up in the lagoon pretty well and there’s plenty of action there so we haven’t worried about chasing the Silver King. Slot, under slot and over slot snook have been prevalent mainly on live bait but they can be caught on artificial as well. It’s also the best time of year to catch redfish inshore and the big trout are out in numbers. Artificial baits are also productive and paddle tails are great baits during the day but topwater is the best early morning bait when fishing artificial. Live finger mullet and bigger mullet are great live baits as well as pinfish and pigfish.
