Well, we’re in week two of the northeasterly winds blowing 20 miles an hour but the fish are still chewing. Early morning top water has been working well, once that slows down, switching to jerk baits or swimming paddle tales later in the morning have been effective targeting the leeward sides of islands. Focus on clean water transitioning to dirty water and keep an eye out for schools of bait fish. If live bait is more your interest, finger mullet worked in sand holes can be very productive for redfish and trout. The winds will be strong, but so will the bite as we get away from the full moon and the flood tides. The water temperature has dropped, which is causing the algae bloom to start to dissipate. Fall is a great time to go fishing.
