Despite the heavy winds and rain, inshore fishing was good with snook, redfish, trout and jacks in on the action. The heavy winds pushed saltwater in the lagoon and pushed most of the freshwater to the west side of the lagoon. If you can find the bait along deeper shorelines and spoil islands, then you should be able to find some good fish. The bait has been scarce in the lagoon with one of the slowest mullet runs I’ve seen in almost a dozen years in our area. But the clean water and the mix of pogies and pilchards inshore has been a blessing with the lack of mullet. High winds out of the east and rain are supposed to continue and the fishing should be decent as long as you can stay on a lee shoreline and find some bait pods that are holding fish.
