The summer heat has slowed the bite down this past week. We did manage to get some willing bass to eat at the Stick Marsh in the first two hours of our morning but it slowed to a halt for the later part of the morning. I feel the fish are feeding more throughout the night rather than the day due to cooler temperatures. Just my feelings on that. There is plenty of bait activity between the 6:00-7:00am part of the morning but after that time it goes deep. Throwing your favorite topwater lure will draw a bite but once the sun gets up and the bait goes deep the best way to continue to catch the bass is dragging a worm on the bottom very slowly. Finding areas with a shell bed type bottom is key rather than soft bottoms. Keep hydrated with plenty of water throughout the summer months.
