red fish

As we move into the end of July the summer bite has really ramped up throughout the waters of New Smyrna Beach and Daytona Beach. We have been boating several different species like redfish, snook, jacks and trout. The bait pods have been spread out across the flats of Mosquito Lagoon and have worked their way through the oyster bays of New Smyrna Beach as well. Focusing on the bait has been the key to locating the game fish. Look for the bait up shallow early then as the sun starts to rise the bait and fish will move to the deeper ledges. Pinfish, mullet and cut bait have all been working well along with spoons and soft plastics. It looks as though we may have some precipitation later in the but should not effect the bite.
