stick marsh bass report

The big fish are showing up on the shallow water flats. We should start seeing more and more giant fish during prespawn and spawn. I’ve seen a few beds In different areas on the lake.

Top baits this week for me has been Zman Jackhammers, Snagproof Poppin’ frogs and the Mike Bucca 7” Trick Shad.

The Mike Bucca 7” trick Shad in the Shad color is working great early in the morning along grass edges and wind blown cuts. Bone is my favorite color!! The Trick Shad baits are only available through a bait drop. Get on the Bullshad email mailing list so you can get the bait drop info. Sign up at Bullshad.com

The Snagproof Poppin frog is fairly new and it works great. I’m fishing along reed edges, floating islands and edges of wind blown cuts. I’m popping it then letting it sit a second or two.

I’m fishing the half ounce Gold Shiner, green pumpkin and White/chartreuse Jackhammers in areas with scattered hydrilla. I use a 4.5” Hogfarmer Spunk Shad in TN Shad or Blizzard gizzard. I’ve slowed down and pop it off the bottom or reel it slow enough to touch the grass. Fishing these on flats with scattered hydrilla.

The live bait bite is on fire. The bigger fish are starting to show themselves a little more each week. Grass edges near deep water is the key. The bigger the shiner the bigger the bite.

Tight lines!
