The recent weather conditions throughout the New Smyrna Beach, Daytona Beach and Mosquito Lagoon area has been a blessing. With highs in the mid 80’s and lows in the mid 60’s it has made for some cool mornings on the water. The fish have seemed to like this little abnormal late cool front as well with several trout and redfish coming boat side the last couple of days. It looks as though this cool front will be short lived in the New Smyrna Beach and Mosquito Lagoon area as the mid 90’s will be back toward the end of the week. The bait is still plentiful from Daytona Beach south through the Lagoon and the pattern seems to be the same as you find the bait you will find the fish. Plugs and spoons have been working well early and then switching over to soft plastics as the sun gets up . The live bait of choice has been pinfish, mullet and shrimp. All three have been working well and with looks at the extended forecast the bite should continue to be good .
