garcia bass fishing

Got one day on the water last week. Spring this year has given us some rather windy days, but the bite on Headwaters is still good using only artificial lures. We started our day with a surprising gift while running to our first spot to fish. Not far from takeoff we came up to an area that had some schooling bass activity going on. Before my friend could get off-plane, I was able to grab the closest rod to me which had a jerk bait tied on and cast it into the feeders. Without even getting to engage my reel once the lure hit the water I hooked up for the first fish of the day. We were able to fish this school long enough to get 7 fish in the boat in less than 15 minutes.

After the fast warm up and our fish moved elsewhere we headed to our area that we were first going to fish. Several lures we used kept the day going for catching fish. Hard jerk baits, crank baits and blade baits all caught fish. The crowds are starting to thin out as most of our northern travelers headed back home and am sure it will thin out some more by the end of April.

Heading to Garcia tomorrow and then back to Headwaters again on Wednesday. Praying for some much needed rain to flush out my major allergies that have cursed me so much the last few weeks.
