It looks as though we are getting a little mild cooling front this week and I’m not complaining. Let’s not get crazy though when I say cooling its down to 91 degrees instead of 98, but I’ll take it. The bite continues to be strong throughout the New Smyrna Beach waters and south into Mosquito Lagoon. The bait is sill pouring onto the flats and into the intracoastal making for easy feeding for several species. The redfish and trout have been mixed in with the bait pods up on the flats where as the jacks and snook have been holding a little deeper around the structure. The tarpon can still be found off the beach and throughout the intracoastal mixed in and around the bait pods as well.
It looks like we will continue to have our afternoon showers for the rest of the week so early starts are recommended not only for the cooler water temps but also not to get wet.
