Offshore:
Not much to talk about. Hurricane Erin really churned it up with the big swells. The big blue needs some time to wash out.
Nearshore/Inlet:
The beach is good right now. We had decent action from tarpon, jacks and sharks, all on live baits. Sebastain North Jetty-they are catching some small mangrove snappers on shrimp and greenies around the pilings and the rocks at the tip. Incoming tide is the better tide to fish them, but they can be caught at the tip on the outgoing as well. (Capt. Glyn Austin & Wayne “Snookman” Landry)
Surf:
The bite has picked up after the storm. Mullet schools have started running the beaches! We’ve been seeing much bigger whiting being caught, along with black drum, jacks, and plenty of smaller pompano. Pompano rigs with white and pink floats have been the hot ticket, especially when paired with a piece of peeled Blue Magic shrimp and a strip of pink Fishbites. (Nik Cocoa Beach Fishing Center)
Lagoons:
Our inshore water temps have dropped about 6 degrees which is good. The mullet schools are getting bigger in the lagoon and will start pushing out to the beaches. Keep your eyes peeled for bait fish being crashed along the edge of the flats for some great trout, snook and red fishing. (Capt. Glyn Austin & Capt. Mike Mann)
Freshwater:
Fishing on Headwaters Lake keeps getting better. Most recent charter Capt. Kenny’s clients caught 52 bass and were back at the ramp by 10am. (Capt. Kenny Hass)
