We are definitely in a summer heat wave here in the Central Florida area with daily highs in the mid to upper 90s. The water temps have increased as well, making the bite a little slower due to the warmer waters. That does not mean the bite has stopped we just have to focus on the cooler parts of the days Luke the early mornings or late evenings. The bait is still plentiful throughout the New Smyrna Beach waters south into Mosquito Lagoon. Live bait has been the choice the past couple of weeks but slow worked artificials will produce a bite as well. We have been targeting redfish, snook, trout and the occasional tarpon when they want to cooperate. It looks like we could have our afternoon showers back in the forecast starting next week which will help out on the cool down both in the air and water temperatures.
